AWA 2010
Anime Weekend Atlanta is only a month away. I've been looking forward to this for over a year now (since I missed last years event).
Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) is a three-day Japanese Animation and comics convention held annually in Atlanta, Georgia.
AWA has a wide variety of events including video room showings of Japanese cartoons from new releases and titles going back to the 1960's, a dealer's room with retailers who sell Japanese animation and manga related merchandise such as toys, videos, audio CDs and artwork, workshops, panel discussions on various topics including the current trends in Japan and how they will affect the United States, a costume contest where attendees dress up as their favorite anime or manga character, and scores of guests who have worked or currently are working in the industry.
This is the most interesting and comprehensive blog posting I have seen that explains the connection between Anime and Lolita.
Read the comments also. Lots of interesting discussion on a topic that has a wide variety of opinions.
The most exciting event will be the Lolita Fashion Show on Saturday at 4 PM. Hope to see many girlfriends there.
Other events work going to are:
Anime Art show - Art Show is a place where amateur and professional artists can feel confident in displaying and selling their 2D and 3D artwork. The subject runs the same wide range that anime does, from fantasy to science fiction, and includes original and fan artworks. In addition to the 2 Dimensional artwork, the art show also welcomes 3-Dimensional works, ranging from assembled and painted plastic or resin model kits to sculptures to spectacular (and we do mean spectacular) dioramas.
Anime Hell - Three hours of short films, wacky commercials, bizarre footage, forgotten educational films, inane public service announcements, and trailers for films that may or may not exist!
See you there
Loli Andrea
